Our impact
Soup is only the beginning.
We believe the first step is often simply being seen. What comes after that is decided by the person, not by us.
See what your bowl helps build
Impact reporting begins when we open.
Once Soup & Smile begins serving, verified figures will be published here. We will report what actually happened — never projections presented as results.
We will never publish estimated, projected or borrowed impact numbers as if they were ours.
The journey
A bowl, and then whatever comes next.
- 01A BowlSomething warm, offered with dignity and without judgment.
- 02A SeatA real table, in the same room as everyone else.
- 03A ConversationSomeone sits down. Someone listens properly.
- 04A SkillWe look for what a person already knows how to do.
- 05A ConnectionWe introduce them to people who can genuinely help.
- 06An OpportunityOne concrete opening: a job trial, a tool, a licence.
- 07A New StartStability that holds — and often, help offered onward.
Example story · illustrative only
Meet someone who has more to give.
Imagine a trained barber who comes to Soup & Smile during a difficult period. He orders at the same counter as everyone else and sits down with a bowl.
In conversation we learn what he can do. Instead of defining him by his circumstances, the community looks at his skill: he begins by offering haircuts to people who come to Soup & Smile.
From there the practical questions are the useful ones. Tools? Transport? A licence? A place to work? Clothes for an interview? Paperwork? An introduction to someone hiring?
“A bowl can begin a conversation. A conversation can reveal a skill. And the right connection can create a path back to work.”
This is a conceptual example, written to explain how the program is intended to work. It is not a real participant. We will only publish real stories with explicit permission from the people in them.
The reconnection program
From receiving help to giving back.
We intend to build a community committee that can help identify practical next steps with anyone who wants to rebuild stability. Areas we expect to work in:
- Work
- Skills
- Transportation
- Tools
- Documentation
- Training
- Mentorship
- Employment
- Community connection
These are planned, community-supported programs being developed. We do not promise services that do not yet exist, and we describe every future program as planned until it is officially launched.
